Home Base Housing has raised the roof on its newest addition…a supportive-living apartment building with 24 one-bedroom units that  gives a new lease on life for formerly homeless individuals. The new building opened in September 2009 and our Community Support Workers are helping the new tenants embark on a new phase of their lives.

In 2006, Home Base Housing opened the first phase of its Joseph Street development with a 14 one-bedroom building as part of Supportive Housing program. Now, four years later, our tenants have this to say about living on Joseph Street…

“Very grateful for the opportunity to live at Joseph Street. It’s the longest I’ve been able to keep an apartment. And I really like the stability.” Chris

“It feels great to live here. I’ve been able to get clean, living with Home Base.” Sue

“I’m glad my friend directed me here through God. Home Base staff has helped me help myself.” Fred

Home Base Housing has received support from all three levels of government, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the United Way serving KFL&A (click here to visit their website), the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area, the Healthy Community Fund and the Catherine Donnelly Foundation. In addition, Home Base Housing has been fortunate to receive generous donations by caring individuals, dedicated businesses, and numerous community and faith groups.

Home Base Housing acknowledges the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation for supporting Joseph Street - Phase II. The Ontario Trillium Foundation is an agency of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. With $100 million in annual funding from Ontario's charity casino initiative, the Foundation provides grants to eligible charitable and not-for-profit organizations in the arts, culture, sports, recreation, environment and social service sectors.
